UNIDENTIFIED INSECTS
These are some ladybirds and other insects that I have been unable to identify. Any assistance would be welcomed!

This was photographed on a bush in Trieste by Nereo Castelli. It is a 'twice-stabbed' ladybird, probably Chilocorus. The only similar British species is the Kidney-spot ladybird but that usually has larger red patches. There are many of these species some of which, such as the American Ch. stigma, are used for biological control. | |

These shieldbugs (left) were very common on the Peloponnese July-August 2005, especially on Verbascum at the Langhada Pass. The mottled bug (right) was abundant in an orchard at Exostis. | ![]() |
